Island of We (Weh) is a small volcanic island located on the North West of main island of Sumatra.

This island once connected with the main island. However, large eruptions in the Pleistocene Era caused the island to become separate.
The Indonesian government has established a territory of 60 km² from the edge of the island as far as in and out as a nature reserve.

A megamouth shark (Megachasma pelagios) can be found on the beach of this island.

In addition, this island is the only habitat for Bufo valhallae (genus Bufo) whose become endangered species, Coral reefs around the island are known as the habitat of various species of fish.
